| I guess I didn't realize exactly how long it has been since I did a blog. I have now started up another account that I am planning to keep more updated. Please visit it at: http://www.myspace.com/laurajean6 Right now I'm working on finishing an incomplete class from Spring 2005, so I can technically graduate. Otherwise I've been working on the dissaster that my boyfriend calls his yard. I'm spending this weekend working on my mom's yard. This summer I will be spending some time on my boyfriend's mom's yard also. None of these jobs pay, so if you or someone you know needs some yard work done or painting or anything. I'll work for cheep if I don't find a job soon. This Eddie Bauer part time stuff is not paying the bills.
There are two places that I sent my resume and stuff to. One gave me an interview and wants to hire me but needs funding approval from the U of MN first. With the university restructuring all of the colleges, it is once again screwing me over. Yet if I take this job I'll add years to my already 6 that I spent there. It does sound like a great job though. Another guy wants to keep in contact with me, but it will probably be 6 month until he will have a possition for me. Ouch. He said he would be happy to hook me up with a couple of his contacts in other firms in the cities. I might just take him up on that. I should have been working on this networking a couple years ago.
Otherwise not much new. My boyfriend and I just celebrated our third year together. I just graduated with my masters degree. I finally have a life again, or will as soon as I finish this homework and start making some money.
| I ran the Twin Cities 10 mile race a couple weekends ago. It was great. I did better than I expected, even though by the next day I was making goals to do better next year. We'll see how that goes. I may have found a second job, but it only pays me 10 cents more an hour than my first job. I'm still planning on getting a job that uses my bartending degree, but I just don't have the time to spend on job searching. If I don't do bartending but stay with serving, I think I need a restaurant where I actually know what the food is. Ah well. I stayed up late the last couple nights on a big project due today, so now I can start procrastinating the next projects since the next thing isn't due in over a week.
I have a symposium to go to Friday afternoon and Sat, but hopefully I'll still get out to have some fun. I think I'll spend tonight working on my halloween costume and get back to the school work tomorrow morning. And if you don't already know what I'm going to be, I'm not telling anyone else. Although it does follow my usual sluttish ways. :)
| Study Abroad!
I am most likely going to be heading over to Europe for 11 weeks spring semester, but I have a month to decide for sure. I'm a little worried about leaving my boyfriend for 3 months and also finding a subleaser for that time, but I think the experience will be worth it. My parents have never been to Europe, so I want to take advantage of the ability to travel while I can since I have no clue what I'm going to end up doing the rest of my life other than working on paying off thousands of dollars in school loans.
Okay, politics... Everyone please vote this year! This is the first election that I have strong feelings about. There are a few of Bush's policies that I prefer over Kerry's, but Kerry has much better plans on how to begin regaining respect from all those countries that we pissed off by how we began this war. Yes, I did support the war, but I think it needed much better initial planning. Environment is a huge issue to me and Kerry definately has a better plan in that area, likewise with many women's rights issues and education. I enjoy contesting what I know of the issues and will accept if I am wrong in what I know, as long as you are not like my boyfriend who says all democrats are hippies and that there is no justifiable reasoning behind being anything but republican. Some people are just so stubborn. I am usually on the fence between parties even though I usually leaned slightly towards the liberal side, but with this election there is no middle. I am not happy from what I've seen from Bush in the last 4 years and think a change of power will be the best thing for the country right now.
Well, since the rant is over, I have to get back to the large assignments that are due in the next couple of days.
| Well, my weekend was awesome dispite the fact that I came down with a nasty cold on Saturday morning. We stayed in his aunt and uncle's house just a few miles from Itasca state park but 3.5-4 hours from the cities. It was a beautiful 70 degrees each day, so we got everything done that we needed on his deer stand and created some sight lines for shooting from the stand. I really didn't want to come back, and now I am worried about feeling better by my 10 mile race on Sunday. I will be slow enough the way it is, I don't need a cold hindering me anymore. My roommate and I are going to be happy if we just finish the race since neither of us have been running the best lately. I've screwed around for about 45 minutes now, so I should crack down since I hardly got any homework done this weekend. | | |
| So, in trying to procrastinate doing homework, I'm starting a page as an experiment to see if I can better keep in contact with people this way. I can't really complain a whole lot about my life right now other than severe lack of money, which is balanced by much free time because of having a shit job that only scheduled me for 4 hours of work in a week.
I'm heading up north this weekend to a cabin, so I'm excited to get out of the cities and spend some time with my boyfriend.
